400 Lb NFL Prospect has Eyes Set on Pro Wrestling
McGowan, the former Baylor offensive lineman and tight end who took the college football world by storm with his touchdown catch in the 2014 Cotton Bowl, told SB Nation that he has his eye on professional wrestling. That’s right, the 6-foot-7, 400-pound McGowan wants to trade in his football pads for a WWE ring.
“I’ve watched it on TV. I’ve thought about, ‘What would be something good or something that I would enjoy doing for a decent, for a long period of time?’” he told SB Nation. “For big guys in the NFL, they really don’t last that long.”
McGowan said he didn’t really start watching pro wrestling until recently, but he has already put some feelers out to people who may be able to connect him to the wrestling world.
Anyone who is familiar with McGowan knows he is a unique athlete. Though he struggled to crack the starting lineup on the offensive line, he quickly transitioned to tight end and caught two touchdowns in 2015 on top the score that made him famous against Michigan State in the previous season.
But before he looks ahead, McGowan, who said he weighs around 405 pounds currently, hopes to give the NFL a real shot. He thinks his versatility in Baylor’s fast-paced offense has prepared him well.
“A lot of the things that we do, you see in the NFL,” he said. “Well, maybe not using a 400-pound tight end. But a lot of the things that we do stem from the NFL, the style of play, I believe, that the NFL uses. You’ve got workout training and stuff like that, that’s like the NFL. Offseason, it would be just like the NFL. Everything that we do stems around how things are done at the next level.”
Seriously, just look at how great this guy’s hands are.

There has to be an NFL coach out there with a way to put his unique skills to use, right?
6’7″ and 400 LBs sounds a hell of a lot more like a WWE Superstar than it does NFL Tight End. LaQuan McGowan, the mountain of a man who could be drafted into the NFL in the upcoming draft, has reportedly already had preliminary talks about a career in the squared circle.
Clearly it’s one or the other for this guy, NFL or WWE. Could you imagine a 6’7″, 400 lb Insurance Salesman? WWE loves size and this guy has it, now if they could only get him to give up on this silly NFL thing.
