It would appear as if that highly-anticipated female featherweight title fight between Champion Cris Cyborg and former bantamweight champion Holly Holm is no longer going to happen.

After what has been months of negotiations, Ariel Helwani is now reporting this bout is unlikely.

The two female standouts were expected to fight at this year’s year-end show at UFC 219.

Here’s Ariel’s report:

This puts Cyborg in an unusual position. As a UFC champion, there is only one official female in her weight-class (M. Anderson). Holly Holm would have been moving up in weight to make the fight a reality.

With no female’s in the division, should the UFC reconsider Cyborg as a viable champion?

Stay tuned as this story develops.
