Bloody Elbow – Cristiane Justino, otherwise known as Cris ‘Cyborg’, is not surprised with Holly Holm and other women’s bantamweight contenders opting not to fight her at UFC 198.

The Invicta FC featherweight champion, who will make her UFC debut on Saturday in a 140-pound catchweight fight against Leslie Smith, is used to opponents changing their minds at the last minute. In fact, she understands exactly why ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ rejected the bout.

According to Cyborg, team Holm is focused on the quickest route to a 135-pound title shot, and they know that a fight with Justino could ruin their plans.

“People say what they want in interviews, but when they get a contract they say other things,” Cyborg said of Holm’s decision during a media scrum, per Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting. “I think it’s business. She wants to fight for the belt first. She’s coming off a loss and wants to get a win back. I guess that’s her team’s plan.”

This is Cyborg playing nice in the sandbox. Of course, nobody wants to fight her. She hits like a tanker truck, is as big as a tanker truck and looks like she would drive a tanker truck. I am pretty sure Cyborg steps on a scale and it says: truck stops down the road. I am looking forward to her first fight in the UFC because the promotion will have to recognize her as one of the best in the world. After people see her ability on the big stage, they will be calling for big matches. I don’t see anybody stepping up except for Miesha Tate. Miesha always seems game, but Cyborg hunts game with her bare hands.
