MMAJunkie – Well, after a lot of recent uncertainty, the upcoming and historic UFC 200 event is going to have a pretty major headliner after all.

While “taking over” today’s edition of “Good Morning America,” officials confirmed light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier (17-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) will rematch interim titleholder Jon Jones (22-1 MMA, 16-1 UFC) in the blockbuster pay-per-view event’s featured attraction (via Twitter):

It’s the third title fight booked for the summer show, which takes place July 9 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on PPV following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Officials were recently scrambling for a new main event after butting heads and ultimately pulling featherweight champ Conor McGregor (19-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) from a planned headlining non-title rematch with Nate Diaz (19-10 MMA, 14-8 UFC). McGregor’s future remains uncertain, and Diaz said he had no desire to remain on the card with a replacement opponent.

I bet Daniel Cormier saw how badly Jon Jones performed against OSP and begged for the rematch to happen as soon as possible. Lucky for DC, UFC 200 needed a real main event after Conor McGregor got pulled from the card. I never saw a way Daniel Cormier was going to win this fight but after that non Jon Jones like performance at UFC 197, I am starting to doubt myself. ‘Bones’ can’t afford to have a subpar outing because Daniel Cormier has all the tools to beat him. DC can play the coke to Jon Jones nose. I really do not know what I was trying to say there but imagine It was really awesome!!!
