Cail Magalhaes – UFC middleweight Caio Magalhaes was given a six-month suspension and 40 hours of community service for unsportsmanlike conduct at a Thursday meeting of the Nevada Athletic Commission in Las Vegas, NV. The commission unanimously approved the sentence.

Magalhaes, 27, spit blood on opponent Josh Samman and referee John McCarthy following a first-round submission loss on July 12 at The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale.

Magalhaes repeatedly apologized to McCarthy and the commission for his “absurd” actions, adding that he and Samman had dinner after the fight and the two buried had “buried the hatchet.” Samman subsequently refuted that claim on Twitter.

Magalhaes asked for leniency from the commission, stating that of his documented $20,000 purse, he actually “took a loss” for the fight after spending $17,000 on his training camp and additional income on post-fight expenses.

The commission ultimately elected not to impose a financial penalty on Magalhaes, whose community service is expected to involve teaching children jiu-jitsu.

Magalhaes (9-2) snapped a four-fight win streak inside the UFC with his loss to Samman. The Brazilian carries notable victories over Karlos Vemola, Luke Zachrich, and Trevor Smith, the latter of which were finished via KO/TKO inside of a minute.

I like my fighters like I like my women, spitters…I mean, NO. That is pretty disgusting. I know they probably get tested for diseases before the fight but if  I was Josh Samman I would see a doctor just in case you got a little HIV in your mouth. I am not sure how Josh could eat after that. Gross, bro!!!
