During an interview on The MMA Hour Donald Cerrone commented on his recent fine for violating the UFC’s Athlete Outfitting Policy. Donald said “I don’t know if the fine they gave me is a punishment for being unruly, But like I said, a few grand, I mean, look at…let’s just say the NFL. They have a $5,000 uniform cap, and they make millions of dollars. And their uniform cap is $5,000. So, even $5000 I wouldn’t be that mad. But still, the amount they gave me is ludicrous.”

When he was asked for the specific amount he was docked for the violation, Cerrone said: “It’s more than five grand, quite a bit more,” he said. “Let’s just say I could probably go out and buy a new car for a Vietnam vet right now, cash money.”

Nate Diaz weighed in on the issue as well with the following tweet:

I am a believer the punishment should match the crime. In this case fining people over 5k for a uniform violation when they do not make a ton of money is absolutely crazy. The UFC has already lost a lot of fighters to other organizations because of this deal and now they are basically giving their fighters 10 years in prison for a speeding ticket. Come on UFC…U should’ve just kept the whole check I don’t need that baby ass shit anyway!!!
