WWE.com – Dr. Phil McGraw is coming to Raw. The host and executive producer of the No. 1 daytime talk show, “Dr. Phil,” will guest star on Monday night’s hottest show.

McGraw’s hit series, now in its 14th season, has been renewed through 2020. Just last year, Dr. Phil was inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame, an honor reserved for pioneers and luminaries in the electronic arts.

What will happen when one of TV’s most recognizable personalities visits the WWE Universe? Find out this Monday night at 8/7 C on USA Network.

WWE is all about crossover appeal into mainstream pop culture, but as far as target audiences go it’s hard to imagine two fan bases more opposite than Dr. Phil and WWE. While three hours is a large amount of live TV time to fill every week, it’s hard to imagine how exactly Dr. Phil adds much value to a show that has already been struggling with continuity from week to week.

The Raw after WrestleMania was highly entertaining and seemed to be a corrective course from the direction the company took leading up to it’s signature event. The inclusion of the daytime talk show host and his son’s fledgling bad seems a step back in the wrong direction. The valuable TV time that will be spent on Dr. Phil and Hundred Handed would seem to be better spent trying to build the brand of their own stars.

Crossover acts have always been a big part of WWE, but the inclusion of Dr. Phil is a bit of a head scratcher. There were so many good things to build upon from last week that could progress this week. Instead it seems we could be headed for a forgettable, disjointed edition of WWE’s flagship show.
