Five Ounces of Pain – According to a report out of Brazil by Combate, Fabio Maldonado will take on Fedor Emelianenko this June in Russia.

The bout would take place under the Fight Nights promotion, meaning it will air live on UFC Fight Pass.

Emelianenko (35-4) ended his retirement this past New Year’s Eve, returning and fighting Jaideep Singh at Rizin FF. Maldonado (22-9) fought several times for the UFC before his release after a loss to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

I always enjoy the classics and a Fedor fight is a throwback to when MMA had a bunch of tough guys that were not afraid to fight 12 times in one night. I think Fedor could come to the UFC right now and still compete with the best in the world. You can’t teach his kind of power and he does not know the meaning of the word quit. It is probably because he is Russian and quit doesn’t translate properly. I hope at some point he can reach a deal with the UFC because it would be great to see him retire in the biggest MMA organization in the world.
