(WARNING: Graphic video included in the post.) Former MMA fighter Amokrane Sabet was killed by police in Bali, Indonesia after he’d fatally stabbed an officer while resisting arrest.

Bloody Elbow – Amokrane “Kiane” Sabet, a former MMA heavyweight who fought three times for Ultimate Challenge MMA in the UK, was shot to death by police on Monday in Bali, Indonesia. The 49-year-old Frenchman (by way of Algeria) had an expired tourist visa, and was confronted by local police and immigration officials. Sabet was armed with a knife and stabbed one of the officers. All warnings by police were ignored by Sabet, who was shot multiple times and died at the scene.

“I am done. Shoot me!” – Sabet can be heard saying moments before his death.

According to Bali police spokesman Hery Wiyanto, Sabet has had a history of violent and troubling behavior throughout the city.

“There had been many complaints about him such as eating at restaurants without paying, carrying a knife, and harassing people, but every time we called him in for questioning, he never showed up,” Bali police spokesman Hery Wiyanto told AFP.

“One of our officers tried to approach him and calm him down, but Sabet stabbed him,” said Wiyanto, adding that the officer died from his wounds.

There’s video (with his body blurred out) of the scene which can be viewed at the top of the page. You’ve already been warned that the footage is graphic, but another reminder that it is graphic certainly doesn’t hurt.

You never like to see things like this happen. I am assuming Amokrane Sabet suffered from mental illness and it is tragic he could not get the help he needed before things turned fatal. Our thoughts are with the officer and the Sabet family as they go through the grieving process. Maybe we can learn from this incident and help prevent it from happening in the future.
