Linda McMahon Endorses Donald Trump
Fansided – WWE and Donald Trump have had a close association for years. Fans may mostly recognize it from their “Battle of the Billionaires” match at WrestleMania in 2007 with Bobby Lashley representing Trump and the late Umaga siding with Vince McMahon. Lashley would win the match and force the Chairman to have his head shaved.
Nine years later, Trump is vying to become President of the United States, so it comes as no surprise that the McMahon’s are backing him up. In fact, Linda McMahon, wife of Vince, is claiming that fellow Republican candidates John Kasich and Ted Cruz are colluding against Trump. She said so in an interview with FOX’s Business Network.
“I think Donald is making the hardest push that he can with this collusion right now. I’ll call it collusion. With [Ted] Cruz and [John] Kasich, we’ll just have to see.”
Come on, Linda. Please stay out of this. We don’t need WWE tied to politics, especially with the declining ratings and viewership. Wasn’t it her running for office years ago that contributed to WWE going to PG programming too?
Let’s hope we don’t get any more comments from Linda about the political race. It may be for the better in the coming months before a new president is announced in the fall.
Is it really surprising to anyone that those associated with WWE would eventually endorse Donald Trump? Due to the controversy, I don’t know that we’ll see The Chairman Himself, Vince McMahon endorse The Donald but it’s safe to assume he’s in Camp Trump. The relationship between WWE and Trump spans back some 30 years to Wrestlemania 4.
I’ve never really understood the endorsement game in politics. All of a sudden now, because Linda McMahon endorsed Donald Trump, is the entire WWE Universe going to jump up and vote for him now? I suppose it can’t hurt, but I just don’t get the big deal.
What I’d really like to see is The Donald appear on RAW. You want ratings to spike? Ask the likely GOP Nominee for the Presidency to make an appearance. The atmosphere would be electric! These candidates have appeared on Saturday Night Live and it’s not like Trump hasn’t been on WWE Programming many times. Make it happen, Mr. McMahon! Don’t take “no” for an answer. We want The Donald on RAW!
