Mark Hunt Files Huge Lawsuit Against UFC, Dana White and Brock Lesnar
The “Super Samoan” Mark Hunt has filed a civil lawsuit Tuesday in Nevada District Court against the UFC, Dana White, and Brock Lesnar alleging the defendants “affirmatively circumvented and obstructed fair competition for their own benefit.”
The suit comes after it was revealed Lesnar failed a drug test prior to their UFC 200 fight. Hunt was not happy with the punishment handed down and thought fining Brock 10% of his 2.5 million dollar purse was a slap on the wrist. He was also suspended a year by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, the United States Anti-Doping Agency and his win was overturned to a no contest.
Hunt is seeking “millions” in compensation for physical damages and damages to his brand. He spoke to ESPN.com and stated:
“I want the UFC to understand it’s not OK to keep doing what they’re doing. They’re allowing guys to do this. They had a chance to take all the money from this guy, because he’s a cheater, and they didn’t.”
“What message is that sending to the boys and girls who want to be a fighter someday? The message is, ‘You just have to cheat like this and it’s OK.’ In society, if you commit a crime, you pay. Why is it different in MMA? It’s hurt the business, so it’s even worse. They need to be held accountable for this.”
Don’t worry though; suing your company and boss will not be awkward at all. Just kidding, Hunt meets Alistair Overeem at UFC 209 in Australia and it will be awkward as……..exactly.
