Miesha Tate vs. Amanda Nunes Set For UFC 200
Bloody Elbow – Contrary to what UFC president Dana White said last month, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate will not be making her first title defense against Ronda Rousey. In an announcement made on Wednesday’s episode of UFC Tonight, Tate will fight Brazil’s Amanda Nunes at UFC 200 at the newly opened T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The promotion’s big pay-per-view is set for Saturday, July 9th.
This is a weird fight announcement that doesn’t get me excited. If Miesha isn’t fighting Holm or Rousey it should have been Cat Zingano. This lady has beaten both Amanda Nunes and Miesha Tate and she gets overlooked. I get Cat’s last fight is a loss but that was a championship fight against Ronda Rousey. Every woman except Holly Holm has suffered that same fate against ‘Rowdy’. I think Zingano is the tougher fight but I don’t think the UFC is worried about that. They need to make money and if Nunes is the bigger draw, then the fight is Nunes.
