First WWE Raw Superstar Announces Participation in Women’s Royal Rumble

Published On December 26, 2017 | Wrestling News

This week on a special Christmas Day edition of Monday Night Raw, Asuka became the first member of the “red brand” to announce her entrance into the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match. She will join former Smackdown Women’s Champion Naomi, who announced her participation in the history-making bout last Tuesday.

The “Empress of Tomorrow” made her announcement immediately after dropping Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss with a spinning kick, knocking the “Goddess” out cold. She then claimed that she would win the Royal Rumble and challenge for Bliss’ title at WrestleMania 34, because “nobody is ready for Asuka”.

It’s expected that most, if not all of WWE’s main roster women not currently holding a championship will compete in the match, but for now only Asuka and Naomi have been officially confirmed. As we reported last week, the company is planning to also use members of the NXT roster to fill out the match.
