Sherdog – The saga continues. British news outlet The Sun is reporting that UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. are in the final stages of negotiations for a boxing match. According to the report, Mayweather (49-0) is set to come out of retirement for a purse upwards of 144 million dollars, while McGregor would earn slightly over 10 million. The bout is said to be planned for Las Vegas, which is coincidently home turf for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The UFC nor McGregor have yet to comment on the report, but it seems extremely unlikely that the Irishman’s contract with the mixed martial arts promoter would allow the contest to take place.

I don’t believe this story, but I kind of do at the same time. This is the biggest fight Floyd could make and he said the only way he would come back would be for a 9 figure fight. Conor gives him 9 figures but I don’t think Conor gives him much of a fight. Boxing and MMA are so different. What makes this story seem fishy is Conor settling for a 10 million dollar purse. He would be worth way more than that if this fight ever came to fruition. I know 10 million is nothing to sneeze at, but this kind of payday will never happen again for Conor so he better make sure he negotiates right.
