Report: McGregor Waiting On Outcome Of GSP vs. Bisping Before Deciding Next Move
Fight fans have been patiently waiting to hear what is next for UFC megastar Conor McGregor. “Notorious” made his professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in Aug. Facing a TKO loss to the pugilist legend, McGregor has been taking time off for the rest of the summer.
As far as the UFC lightweight champion’s next move, nothing has yet been set in stone. UFC President Dana White has come forward to say that he would prefer McGregor to return to the octagon, rather than pursue another boxing match. With Tony Ferguson having just achieved the interim UFC lightweight title, “El Cucuy” appears to be a reasonable conclusion for the fighter’s octagon return. Still, many fans are hopeful to see McGregor come back for a super-fight trilogy rematch against heated rival Nate Diaz. Now, it would appear that another option is now in the mix.
As reported by MiddleEasy, a rumor is now spreading that Conor McGregor is awaiting the result of UFC 217’s main event before he revealed his next move. Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will be making his octagon return after nearly four years away from the sport. For his opponent, St-Pierre will be taking on UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping.
Here is Middle Easy’s original report:
“Huge if true, but rumors are now floating about that a big reason why Conor McGregor’s next UFC fight has not yet been set is stone because his team is waiting on the result of Georges St. Pierre’s return fight with Michael Bisping. Win or lose, if GSP has a decent showing McGregor may want to tab the Canadian GOAT has his next PPV dance partner; with a big stadium show in Canda as a possible venue.”
UFC 217 is a pay-per-view event that will go down Nov. 4 inside the Madison Square Garden Arena in New York.
