There is sad news coming out of the MMA world. Kimbo Slice has passed away in a Coral Springs, Florida hospital Monday night at the age of 42. I always find it hard when somebody is taken so young. Kimbo was a great person, had an incredible work ethic, was a terrific athlete and inspired a lot of young kids to dream big. I remember when he hit the YouTube scene. This was a guy I wanted to meet (not in a dark alley) and see more of. There was something electric about his personality and he had the smarts to use social media to network and create a career for himself. This loss will be felt throughout the fight world.

Bellator president Scott Coker released a statement on the passing of Slice:

“We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family. One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport.

“Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man. His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo’s friends, fans and teammates.”

Rest in peace, Kimbo!!!
