Cheick Kongo def. Tony Johnson via majority decision (28-28, 29-28, 29-28)

This was a typical Chieck Kongo fight (boring and lackluster…I know they basically mean the same thing, but I wanted to drive the home the point). I was rooting for Tony Johnson to win the fight but he was only able to secure round 2. On a side note – I am always envious of how Kongo looks. He is a statue made of stone…and steroids. Yeah, mostly steroids (allegedly).

Joe Warren def. Sirwan Kakai via submission (guillotine choke) – Round 3, 1:04

It looked like Sirwan Kakai (I dare you to say that 3 times fast) was going to win the fight but Joe Warren (one of the whitest names ever) got going in the 2nd half of round two to secure the guillotine choke.  I don’t think he looked good enough to get a title shot, but who cares what I think.

Anastasia Yankova def. Veta Arteaga via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

This was a beast of a fight. I swear Anastasia Yankova got knocked out 15 times on the feet during the crazy exchange in round 1 but she persevered and ended up getting the close decision. Veta Arteaga was game to do some damage and I wouldn’t mind seeing this one again.

Derek Campos def. Djamil Chan via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Derek Campos was knocked out in the first round…he just recovered very quickly so the referee did not stop the fight. I scored the round a 10-8 essentially making the fight a draw but my vote doesn’t count and Derek Campos did enough in the following rounds to get the W.
