MMA Junkie – Upcoming tryouts for “The Ultimate Fighter” will include fighters – male and female – from three different weight classes.

Officials today announced an open call for male light heavyweights, as well as female bantamweights and strawweights, for “The Ultimate Fighter 23.”

The upcoming season of the 11-year-old series begins production in January, and the series is slated for an April debut on FOX Sports 1. Head coaches haven’t been announced.

As with past tryouts, the weight classes featured at the tryouts aren’t guaranteed to be the final divisions featured on the show. However, as with “TUF 18,” the show has featured coed casts in the past.

Tryouts take place Dec. 14 in Las Vegas.

From the UFC:

“TUF” has launched the careers of hundreds of current and past UFC fighters, and cast members such as Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans, Matt Serra and Carla Esparza gave gone on to win titles. A number of international “TUF” editions have also debuted in recent years.

I was going to tryout for TUF 23 but I pulled a hammy. I figured I would post this since one of our BDA readers may be interested in being the next TUF champion. We know the readers of our site probably have no athletic talent but I am in favor of people following their dreams. When I was a kid I always wanted to be a writer on the internet. Not really, the internet did not exist and I had to masturbate to ice skating and Baywatch. The younger generation doesn’t know how easy they have it.
