Two-Time Olympic Judo Gold Medalist Kayla Harrison Signs With WSOF
Kayla Harrison, a two-time Olympic judo gold medalist at the 2012 and 2016 games in the 78 kg division (way to make me feel bad about my life accomplishments) is about to turn the MMA world upside down (no really, she has great throws).
Kayla spoke to USA TODAY Sports and said she signed with World Series of Fighting (WSOF) to serve as a commentator, brand ambassador, and eventually a professional fighter.
“I’ve been boxing and doing jiu-jitsu and all that, and the biggest thing for me, really, is that I miss competing,” Harrison said. “I miss fighting on the highest stages of the world, and the World Series of Fighting really gave me a great opportunity.”
“A lot of times people like to compare me to Ronda,” Harrison said. “I’m my own person. I make my own decisions. I’ll do it in my own time.”
Harrison will make her on-air debut for the promotion on Dec. 31 for the company’s NBC-broadcast WSOF 34 event at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York.
