‘The California Kid’ Urijah Faber is calling it a career after his next fight at UFC on FOX 22 on December 17, 2016 in Sacramento, California. He will be putting on the gloves one more time to fight a tough Brad Pickett. The fight takes place in his hometown so that is pretty cool (if he wins, otherwise he should move).

Faber broke the news on The MMA Hour (It should have been on A Man Walks Into An Armbar but oh well) on Monday when he stated the following:

“I’m super excited to fight in (Sacramento),” Faber said. “Those are all my people out there. I built our team, Team Alpha Male (there), it’s like an extended family to me, and I was raised in the greatest Sacramento area all the way through college. It’s going to be a really cool event.

“I’ve been kind of waiting for this, and this is actually going to be my last fight. And it just feels right to do it in Sac in this new area. It just feels like the right time and the right place. I’ve been waiting for this new arena to be built, I was waiting for that Dominick Cruz opportunity, and I feel like this is going to be an epic event and I can’t wait to do it in front of the people I love.”

“I just feel like it feels like the right time. It just feels like the time to have a homecoming and an adios at the same time.”

I am sad to see him walk away, but happy he is still healthy. I am sure the UFC will find him a spot on the payroll (although not so sure after they fired 90% of their staff). He has an electric personality and will live in our hearts (or back pocket, dude is tiny) forever.
