“It’s a very diverse group,” Triple H said. “We’re scouring the globe and looking for the absolute best talent to be involved with this.”

Earlier this week, it was announced that independent organizations EVOLVE Wrestling, Revolution Pro Wrestling and PROGRESS Wrestling will host qualifying matches for the series.

For long time fans of Professional Wrestling, did you ever think you’d see the day where WWE not only was signing undersized Independent Wrestlers left and right, but now they are working with and going to feature non-contracted talents as well? In recent months the NXT brand has added Samoa Joe, Apollo Crews (Uhaa Nation), Austin Aries, Christopher Girard (Biff Busick) among others to their red hot brand. They have also featured free agents Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano regularly on their programming.

This Global Cruiserweight Series is an entirely different animal, however. It’ll be interesting in the coming days and weeks to see what other Independent Talents are added to this exciting tournament. With WWE expanding their horizons, Wrestling fans around the world are the ones that stand to benefit the most.
